Caterpillar and Mascus sign new deal

Market leaders Caterpillar and Mascus, one of the biggest names in the world for the sale of used construction machinery, agricultural, material-handling equipment and forestry equipment are delighted to announce the continuation of their co-operation agreement for another 12 months. Caterpillar entered into the agreement with Mascus in October 2010, using the online portal to connect buyers to a wider selection of its equipment across the world.

The continuation of the agreement comes at the end of a very successful six-month period for Mascus. Since December 2010, Mascus has celebrated some considerable achievements including having 150,000 online ads positioned on their portal, with 3500 companies advertising from around the world. The site achieves over 2 million unique visitors every month, and the company now has a presence in 41 countries worldwide.

“We are delighted that Caterpillar and their unmatched Caterpillar dealer network have agreed to continue working with Mascus, and the success of this endeavour shows just how important a truly global Internet portal is in this industry,” comments Sales Director Rickard Petersson. “Our strong online presence and Caterpillar’s globally recognized brand is a powerful partnership that promotes international trade on an unprecedented scale. The benefit for both buyers and for Caterpillar dealers has been substantial and the continuation of the association between Mascus and Caterpillar is one that we both welcome.”

Caterpillar – an established presence online

Caterpillar has already firmly established its presence online, and recognizes the importance of an Internet portal as a crucial aspect of its marketing strategy. Caterpillar uses Catused.com as their central internal platform as well as marketing to end consumers. Combining this with Mascus and its strength as a marketing channel to reach new markets means that end users will be able to continue to access used equipment inventory of Cat equipment for sale around the world. It also ensures that CAT dealers across the globe will still have their inventory published on Mascus to reach a worldwide audience.

“We have been delighted with the response we’ve had as a result of our co-operation agreement with Mascus. The heightened profile it has provided means that our dealer network has improved their ability to connect with customers,” comments Mike Young, Product Manager for CatUsed, Build&Quote Customer Support Services. “We’re committed to continuing our relationship with Mascus over the next 12 months, and are sure that it will produce an even stronger market presence for our dealers, and of course, greater opportunities for buyers looking for quality used Caterpillar equipment.”

Mascus – providing a worldwide portal for CAT dealers

The continuation of the co-operation agreement with Caterpillar reinforces Mascus’ credentials as a trusted brand, allowing CAT dealers to reach a wider audience. The fact that the Mascus portal is available in over 35 languages also increases CAT dealer’s exposure to new markets across the globe.

“The success of the partnership between Mascus and Caterpillar has been one of our proudest achievements this year, and we now have the opportunity to continue building on that success for at least another 7 months,” says Managing Director Fredrik Larsson. “We’re delighted that such an established name as Caterpillar has had such a positive experience with the Mascus brand, and we look forward to another very successful year for both partners,” he concludes.
